Actually, it was there that I first came out publicly-not as a DJ, but as a passionate, carefree music-selecting storyteller. The amalgamation of those heydays of artistic freedom allowed fresh ideas to flourish, thus contributing to the production of a plethora of dope music. Being at the helm of this game- changing music emporium gave me 100% freedom to be myself.<\/p>\n<p>Fast forward to February 1, 2005, a time when two young, longtime friends began their quest to fill a void in what was sadly missed as far as record stores in New York City. Setting their sights on Brooklyn, they soon gave birth to Dope Jams-an institution that took to heart embracing my input and experience as the elder statesman.
