Nights. Created as an answer record to Light of the World\u2019s massive 1980 anthem London Town by the same writer\/producer of the original &#8211; Augie Johnson, this laid-back groover championing the delights of L.A. became huge on the jazz-funk scene in its own right and deservedly so. Augie\u2019s fresh production keeps all the funk of LOTW\u2019s version with a killer bass, cool vibes and tight percussion but Yasuko brings a lighter ethereal feel with her smooth other-worldly vocal delivery. One of two Japanese album tracks plucked for 12\u201d release by iconic UK soul\/funk label Bluebird, this is backed with the more jazzy but equally sweet New York Afternoon. Great release!
