Lifelong New Yorker Fred P has been heavily assoicated with the recent revival of the city’s house scene. Alongside many of his American peers, he has helped turn the attention back on the city that helped shape the clubbing world as we know it. Although Fred has been part of the scene for more than 20 years, it’s his close connection with the likes of Dj Jus’ Ed, Levon Vincent, Dj Qu and Move D that have helped propel his name in more recent years on a global scale.

Acting under both Fred P and his alias, Black Jazz Consortium, Fred has crafted out an instantly recognisable sound, releasing on his own Soul People Music imprint, Underground Quality, Strength Music Recordings, Workshop and Mule Electronic amongst others. His dj and production styles are similar, focusing on smooth but driving future house and techno that infuses dark droning melodies, sharp percussion and infectious subbass. He is the master of all things deep, treading a careful balance between melancholy and grit that can hear him invent the most beautiful house next to some real lofi, modified contemporary technoid sounds.

We consider Fred to be one of the most important house djs and producers of recent years, and are excited that he’ll be playing for us at meandyou for the first time.
