Kuniyuki & Jimpster – Kalima’s Dance EP

Given their mutual appreciation of future jazz, broken beat and deep house, you’d expect a musical meeting of minds between Jimpster and Kuniyuki Takahashi to produce impressive results. Happily, that’s certainly the case on the Kalima’s Dance EP. They begin with the deliciously deep, melodious and positive title track, where twinkling Rhodes keys rub shoulders with drowsy chords and shuffling, jazz-flecked house grooves. Each producer offers his own interpretation on the flip, with Kuniyuki’s synth-propelled broken house take complimenting Jimpster’s jazz-flecked deep house version. The EP’s other track, “Water Lily”, is an impeccably beautiful, downtempo delight.
