Ron Trent – Altered States (Prescription)

Ron Trent is back with more jackin’ beats, this time via a Prescription Records reissue of Altered States. The title track sees cheering synths at full capacity to-and-fro with ear shattering snares and Chicagoan drums. The winched kicks and percussion of “Afterlife” make for a similar groove and sonic to Steve Poindexter’s ’89 club hit “Work That Mutha” while “Making Love” is an analogue orgy of drum machines and deep house authenticity.
