TOSHI MAEDA
Born in 1967 in Adachi, one of the oldest districts of Tokyo, Toshi Maeda always loved Music, from an early age. However, upon landing a part-time job at a local record store in his teens, Toshi's love-affair with Music took on a whole new meaning, when he was exposed to a plethora of different musical styles, including early Chicago House, which to this day, has had a lasting impact on him. Maeda has since graced the enigmatic Tokyo underground Dance landscape for 28 years now, and is heralded as one of several disciples of Deep Dance Music in Japan.
AYUMU OKADA
Ayumu Okada began manning the turntables in 1989. Having been an employee at the infamous Disk Union record shop, Okada steadily gained more and more knowledge and expertise, not to mention sheer love, for Black Dance Music. As a disc-jockey, Okada is considered a solid staple in the Tokyo underground, and together with his record-store presence, has been both a teacher and mediator for many young Japanese club kids and young DJs, exposing them to Music they may otherwise have never discovered, hence passing on the proverbial torch in honourable fashion. His over-three-decades worth of DJ experience has garnered a trusted following in Japan, as he continues to grace the dancefloor with a wide-array of Deep Music. He has shared turntables with notables such as Marcellus Pittman, Alton Miller, Sascha Dive and many others.
KAJI
As a House Music crusader in Japan, Kaji is well-known to leave his audience spellbound, whether he is putting in work for his regular parties based in Tokyo, or whether he shares the turntables with legendary DJs from around the world. Kaji has equally had the honour of musically-gracing the historic and world-renowned Ryougoku Kokugikan Sumo Hall, playing a lengthy DJ set at the Japanese Dance Music Festival known as Connect '07, the first time ever that the sacred sumo hall served as a venue for such an event. Nowadays, Kaji is involved with the popular Freerange Tokyo events, where artists from the formidable Freerange record label are featured in Japan. He also takes part in one of the biggest dance music parties of its' kind in Tokyo, the Japan Music Conference. Expect Kaji to keep rising in Japan and beyond.
TOYO
DJ Toyo can rock crowds wherever & whenever he's in front of the decks. This is not only attributed to his expertise, but to his vast selection of music and innate capacity to please all sorts of crowds. For many years, he held a residency at Tokyo’s best Hip-Hop night club “HARLEM”, on Fridays. Like many Hip-Hop jocks before him, Toyo then discovered the glory of House & Disco. Starting in 2012, Toyo annually brought NYC’s very own DJ/Producer Eli Escobar. In 2014, he also produced the Tiki Disco summer outdoor parties in the heart of Tokyo. Attracting a large following in Tokyo’s underground, Toyo's fanbase has fallen in love with him. With a style strictly based on his diverse tastes, Toyo travels nationwide and plays for any type of venue. Nowadays, he is embracing the wonders of producing.
